Uni beefs up security

Southern Cross University has increased its security patrols and will install extra closed circuit security cameras and additional emergency phones following a review of security on the Lismore campus. The upgrade comes after a 21-year-old exchange student was sexually assaulted at the Lismore campus earlier this month.

The new measures will be in addition to the existing security, which includes foot and mobile patrols and a free shuttle bus service every half hour during and after specific functions. Security staff are also available to transport staff or students to their car or university accommodation after hours.
