This sculpture Curious Fruit by Bruce Blackford from Byron Bay is one of the 63 sculptural works in the Thursday Plantation East Coast Sculpture Show.

This Sunday, September 24, is opening day for the Thursday Plantation East Coast Sculpture Show. In its 11th year, the sculpture show has entries from all over Australia and its opening day will be a feast of visuals, music, comedy and community.

Entry (from 12pm) costs $5 and includes the catalogue and a chance to win season tickets to Woodford Folk Festival. Therell be music a soundscape especially created for the event by Yantra De Vilder and performed by her, Leigh Carriage and Greg Sheehan.

Rhoda Roberts, radio personality and director of The Dreaming, an indigenous festival at Woodford in Queensland, will be there to open the awards ceremony as will comedian and painter Mandy Nolan, who will conduct a tour of the artworks.

The winning artists will share $20,000 worth of prizes.

The show is located just off the Pacific Highway at Thursday Plantation, one kilometre north of Ballina.
