Council looks at management plan

Lismore City Council will hold an extraordinary meeting followed by a public workshop next Tuesday, September 26, to discuss the draft plan of management for Lismore Park.

At last weeks Council meeting councillors were divided about whether the plan was ready to go on public exhibition. The mayor used his casting vote to break a deadlock and push the draft plan through, however, Crs Jenny Dowell, Ros Irwin and David Tomlinson promptly lodged a rescission motion the next morning.

At next Tuesdays meeting Council will debate the rescission motion, and whatever the outcome, a public workshop will be held so councillors and community members are fully informed about all elements of the plan and what ramifications could be involved.

The draft plan includes a list of possible works for the area, including floodlighting for Crozier Field, turning the Continental Bocce Club into a community and youth facility, and relocating the Lismore Tourist Caravan Park.

The meeting is at Councils Goonellabah chambers in Oliver Avenue. It will begin at 6pm, with the workshop likely to begin at around 6.30pm.
