Coles and Bi-Lo staff care for kids

Tireless fundraising by staff at six Coles and Bi-Lo stores in the local area has resulted in the Our Kids charity being given $10,000.

The money was raised through the annual Care for Kids Appeal, which supports the Royal Childrens Hospital Foundation. In true community spirit, the Royal Childrens Hospital Foundation then donates a large percentage back to the local community who raised the money as a reward for their efforts.

The money was raised by staff at Coles in Lismore, Ballina and Goonellabah and Bi-Lo in Alstonville, Casino and Ocean Shores. It will be used to purchase a monitor for the special care nursery at Lismore Base Hospital, which sees one third of all babies born in the Northern Rivers.

The monitor which we have purchased enables our babies, when needing care, to stay locally instead of being transferred to the cities, said Our Kids chairman, Annie Curtin. The staff of the participating stores should be extremely proud for being apart of building better health services for our children in the Northern Rivers.
