Lauren champions Oceania

The Myagi Kan dojo champions recently travelled to Brisbane to take part in the Australian Karate Championships held at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. They were (rear l-r) Tasman Wales, Richard Morgan, Lauren Morgan and Matt Tickle with (front l-r) Dean Morgan, Dean Marshall (head coach) and Ben Morgan.

Local karate exponent Lauren Morgan secured gold in the junior female lightweight division at the Oceania Games in New Caledonia this weekend.

Morgan, a member of the Australia karate squad, was joined on tour with fellow Myagi Kan dojo fighter Matt Tickle, who also picked up a silver medal in the international event.

The pair earnt their right to represent their country after an excellent showing in last months Australian Karate Championships held at the Entertainment Centre in Brisbane where Tickle won the cadet male over 75kg division and Morgan won the cadet female under 51kg division.

Fellow Myagi Kan fighters Tasman Wales (gold and bronze), Richard Morgan (silver), Ben Morgan (bronze) and Dean Morgan all produced quality work as well.
