Fish get a bit of a breather

Just prior to the last rain, Ben Steele of Lismore caught this very large bass near Wyrallah. Youve had a good season if you get just one fish of this size.

I guess the bad weather last weekend is one of natures ways of giving the fish a break from the incessant pressure that they are put under from both commercial and recreational anglers. Still, around Ballina there were a number of hardy people having a go. The conditions, although wet and cold, did lend themselves to good jew fishing and even bream if you could find a sheltered spot. No doubt some long overdue maintenance was carried out on reels, motors and other gear.

Bass Classic entry forms are now available from clubs, tackle shops, boat dealers and by calling 6621 3047 or 6686 0240 after hours. It is shaping up to be a great event with profits going toward restocking the Wilsons and Richmond rivers with bass. Each $1000 means another 2000 bass for release.
