Water stories

Rous Water, with help from this newspaper, is running a short story competition.

The theme is Water for Life. (Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that water IS life.) The winners will be announced during National Water Week which runs (pardon the pun) from October 15-21. The competition is open to people who live in the Ballina, Byron, Lismore and Richmond Valley areas. (Do we still have shires?)

Your story should be no longer than 500 words and there are three age categories 12 years and under, 13-18 years, and 19 years and over.

The winner in each category will receive $250 cash and a $250 voucher while the runner up in each group will get a $250 voucher. (The vouchers are redeemable from a local bookstore.)

And the winners will get published in this venerable newspaper!

The closing date for entries is October 5. So get writing!
