Lyon down the groove

First rule of bass playing always keep the guitar as close to horizontal as possible. Greg Lyon, being a master of the four stringer, obviously knows this rule. He will demonstrate this and other skills when his band plays in Lismore next Tuesday.

Last time Greg Lyons Hip Operation played at the Jazz N Blues Night in Lismore, the place was packed. And pumping. With a top bunch of musos Ben Thompson on guitar and vocals, Bob Howlett tickling the keys, Scott Hill on the kit, Shaston King blowing sax and a number of guest vocalists Greg gets the room dancing with his blend of New Orleans (pre Katrina) grooves, funk and jazz. He covers tunes by the likes of Ray Charles, John Cleary and Jon Scofield.

So check out Greg Lyons Hip Operation next Tuesday, September 19, at the Rous Hotel in Lismore from 8.30pm.

$7/5 gets you through the door.
