Bonalbo sees Aurora

Jane from Aurora Jane and Massive Change has gotten rid of her dreadlocks, wrote the songs on the bands hot new album and is preparing for a national tour to promote the new recording. But first a gig at Bonalbo...

Bonalbo is the place to be this Saturday, September 16. During the day at the Bonalbo Aboriginal Corporation theres plenty of activities like a workshop for rappers, poets, comedians and yarn spinners called Art With Words; cooking workshop (lemon myrtle, yum); new enterprise information sessions; and dinner from 5pm.

That evening at the Bonalbo Hotel it will be a feast for the ears with North Coast funsksters Auora Jane and Massive Change. They will feature on a night that will also showcase local musical talent. Aurora Jane and Massive Change have just released their new album Universal Language. This recording, like the live band experience itself, is funky, rootsy and looks at the world we live in today.

Though her lyrics show her belief in social justice (and this is a frustrating world for social justice at the moment) Aurora Jane and Massive Changes music is uplifting, not depressing.

The album is exploring intense issues, but I think its important we all stand on the middle ground. We have to let go of extremism and look at our similarities, Jane said. And dance. The dancefloor will pump with the rootsy grooves of the band this Saturday evening.
