An investment thats bound to grow

From as little as $2 an average Australian can help stop the extinction of native fauna such as the Daintree ringtail possum (below) and halt the development of one of the worlds most pristine and ecologically important regions.

While parts of the Daintree rainforest are protected forever due to World Heritage listing, last year the Queensland Government developed 20 allotments for rural residential housing, a decision that will result in the ongoing loss of critical habitat.

Local organisation Rainforest Rescue, in conjunction with The Daintree Rainforest Foundation and with financial support from everyday Australians, has so far purchased eight of these allotments, protecting this priceless land from development forever.

$2 will buy one square metre of this land, and thats a fantastic contribution, said Rainforest Rescues executive director, Kelvin Davies. Weve had everyone from young children donating a few dollars of their pocket money to businesses donating substantial amounts, all in the aid of our precious Daintree rainforest. This is a chance for individuals, families and businesses to protect and restore our dwindling rainforests and each donation achieves a tangible outcome.

Buying a piece of the Daintree is also a great gift idea. For more info or to buy a bit of Daintree phone Rainforest Rescue on 1300 763 611 or visit www.rainforestrescue.org.au.
