Grooving into dance

Following the success of last years Into the Groove Work Experience Week, NORPA Dance Action presents Into the Groove 06 Youth Dance Intensive.

Aimed at young people (14-25) in the Northern Rivers with a strong interest in dance, Into the Groove 06 provides the rare opportunity to work in a dance company situation for a week. Yep. just like real professional dancers. Youll learn a lot about contemporary and hip hop dance and it all culminates in a public performance.

Leading local dance artists Michael Hennessy, Daniella Finkenauer and Cristy Kilkeary will be joined by Canadian professional contemporary dance artist Jen Murray. Jens lifelong exploration of the mechanics and artistry of the body in motion has included training at the National Ballet School of Canada and the School of Toronto Dance Theatre.

In 2002 she won the British Columbia Emerging Dance Artist of the Year Award and since that time she has continued with extensive movement training and shares her expertise through teaching.

Into the Groove 06 will be held in the first week of school holidays (October 2-7) at the Northern Rivers Performing Arts Centre.
