Uni Bomba

Nicky Bomba fronts Bomba reggae/dance groovemeisters who will lay down the soul beats in Lismore next Thursday.

Melbourne-based reggae band Bomba has been pretty busy of late. After shows at WOMAD in the UK and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival over winter, this bunch of funksters is back in this wide, parched land doing what they do better than just about anyone else filling up the dancefloor.

With their beats and dub, their rhythm and soul, Bomba lays down an irresistible dance groove. And thats just what theyll be doing when they play at the SCU Unibar in Lismore next Thursday, September 14, from 8pm.

Fronted by Nicky Bomba on vocals, guitar and theremin, the six-piece Bomba features a horn section, keyboard, long loping basslines and drums.

Bombas latest recording is called bomba vs laroz and is a collaboration between frontman Nicky Bomba and Israeli DJ Laroz. It was recorded in Oz and Tel Aviv and is a testament to these two artists commitment to danceable grooves.

Tickets to the gig are $15/10 and available at Campus Central reception.

For more info phone 6627 6888.

Freebie: The Echo has two copies of bomba vs laroz to give away to some lucky readers. To go in the draw to win phone 6622 2888 between 10.15 & 10.30am next Monday, September 11, and tell us if Tel Aviv is the capital of a) Lebanon, b) Israel or c) Maldives.
