Our Kids fundraiser nothing to wine about

While tickets for the Lismore Wine Fairs shiraz tasting masterclass with winemaker Stephen John (pictured) are sold out, people will still have the opportunity to meet the man and pick his brains at the event.

Held next Sunday, September 10, at the Left Bank Caf, the Lismore Wine Fair is a fundraiser for local charity Our Kids, which raises money for the childrens ward and special care nursery at Lismore Base Hospital.

All you have to do to help the cause is enjoy tasting over 80 Australian and New Zealand wines and fine food from Menins while relaxing to live swing jazz. If you prefer ale to vino, Coopers will also have a range of boutique beers to taste.

For people who really enjoy wine, this is the perfect opportunity to compare grapes and vineyards, to talk to experts like Stephen and to enjoy a social Sunday afternoon, said organiser Rebekka Battista. Tastings of this size usually only occur in bigger cities, so its definitely an opportunity not to miss.

As well as filling up on food, wine and music, people can also win a wine bar fridge, donated by the Hoolihan family, and a collection of wine and food books donated by Dymocks.

Lismore Wine Fair tickets are $15 from The Left Bank Caf or phone Our Kids on 6620 2705. Or pick one up at the door on the day.
