Bulls blow grand final berth

In a mirror image of last years Far North Coast Rugby competition the Casino Bulls fell just shy of a spot in the grand final after losing a close but uninspiring game to the Grafton Redmen 19-18.

In a match that Casino dominated, Dwayne Corrigan couldnt buy a penalty goal conversion, missing six in the second half to hand the Redmen the one point win and direct entry into the grand final. Fortunately for the Bulls they get a second chance this Saturday at Crozier Oval at 3.30pm when they play Ballina in the preliminary final.

Ballina put together a strong forward game in the second half of the minor semi final against Yamba to earn a shot at the title and they need to recapture that form if they are to match it with the Bulls. Meanwhile, the Bulls (and notably Corrigan) have been training hard to make sure they take the chances theyre offered. In Corrigans defence the wind was blowing a gale last Saturday and Crozier Ovals protected position in the middle of town should provide a less blustery venue for the crucial encounter.
