Lately I have mentioned the Bass Classic, which is on October 6 and 7.
This is a very important event as its the main fundraiser for keeping the stocks of bass up in the Richmond and Wilson rivers. Some information last week was a little unclear. Although the event will be based at the Palms Caravan Park on Bangalow Road, Lismore, fishing can take place anywhere on the Clarence, Richmond and Tweed rivers or their tributaries, and in Toonumbar and Clarrie Hall dams.
Fishing in any privately owned dam or one where fishing is not allowed is not permitted. There are eight divisions covering lure and fly fishing. Dams and rivers are different sections and there are great prizes for each category. There are also divisions for ladies and juniors.
Prizes total well over $4000 with the main trophy a $1200 colour fish finder from Lowrance. So keep those dates free, support a good cause and win one of the 37 prizes on offer.
