Rural women get together

From October 20-22, Grafton will host the 14th annual NSW Rural Womens Gathering.

Women in this state achieve excellence in many fields business, the arts, community building, farming, health, the media, and environmental care. These talents will be celebrated and explored.

The Gathering will feature a full program of workshops, entertainment, talks and tours with something for everyone from business, community development, rural issues, technology and social policy through to handicrafts, personal development, dance, yoga, music and indigenous cultural awareness.

The whole Gathering is also going live online with Project Sprout, which will involve locals and young people documenting the whole event and putting it live online for women everywhere to join in.

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation  Riots of Passage in The Quad  as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
