A Brazilian view

The View From Madeleines Couch (pictured) is Australias very own Brazilian music ensemble. Last time they played the Jazz N Blues night in Lismore they brought the full house down. It was an inspired night of bossa nova, samba, forro, samba-reggae, and original Brazil-inspired songs with Anje Wests vocals in Portuguese.

And our very own (yep, we own him) guru of guitar, Jim Kelly, played with them.

Anje and Kym (vibraphone) lived in Brazil for three months. With a vibraphone in the line-up (thats pretty unusual in a Brazilian band) The View From Madeleines Couch have a distinctive and irresistible sound.

The band returns to the Jazz N Blues night at the Rous Hotel in Lismore next Tuesday, September 5. The rhythms start at 8.30pm and $10/7 gets you in. Oh, and Jim will join them on the nylon stringer.
