Police have released the name of the driver who was killed when his Toyota sedan collided with a logging truck on the Summerland Way east of Grevillia on Wednesday shortly after 11am. He was John Scott Baker, 34, of Kyogle. Three men aged 17, 20 and 21 who were also in the car were taken to Lismore Base Hospital with injuries including a contusion to the lung, possible fractured sternum, fractured collarbone and a laceration to the head. None of the injuries were considered life threatening and all were expected to be released after treatment. The 36-year-old driver of the prime mover was not injured. At the time of the accident the road surface was wet and there was moderate rain falling. Investigations are continuing.

Ballina Police are seeking witnesses to an attack on a 2002 red Peugeot convertible, which suffered malicious damage at Lennox Point Lookout between 4pm and 5pm on Monday afternoon. Information to Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

Several police vehicles were called to a caravan park on the Bruxner Highway, South Lismore, at 8.50pm in relation to numerous 000 calls. A group of eight people ranging in age from 12 to 31 allegedly assaulted a 27-year-old woman and a 21 and 24-year-old man. Police are presently investigating the incident in relation to assault and malicious damage.

A water pump valued at $400 was stolen from a yard in Toongahra Circuit, Goonellabah, between 4pm Friday and 1.30pm on Saturday. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.
