Swans last round rave

Echo columnist and Swans stalwart Roly Wintle shows great touch when marking in the left back pocket against the Casino Lions on Saturday.

The Lismore Swans smashed the Casino Lions at Mortimer Oval in a 27.9.150 to 2.12.19 encounter.

The Swans were disciplined, focussed and committed to the ball and will have to be even more so when they take on the Ballina Bombers this Saturday in Round 20 of the SAFL at Fripp Oval.

This is the last round before the finals and the Bombers will meet the Magpies in the major semi-final while the Swans clash with Casino at Queen Elizabeth Park.

The preliminary final will be held at Shultz Oval in Bangalow whilst the grand final is to be staged at Fripp Oval in Ballina.

Now would be an appropriate time for the Swans to move up a gear and what better way than with a psychological victory over the Bombers.

To be a genuine premiership threat the Swans must defeat the top two sides and coach Ron Meldrum is well aware of peaking at the right time. The Swans, who have not had a full side all year, get the opportunity to right past wrongs and be a premiership contender. Now is the time to forget those injury worries and start wanting the prize. Regardless of where a team sits on the ladder, its who wants it the most that matters.

Up there Cazaly!
