Bass release starts

Last week the first of the bass restocking for 2006 began in the Richmond and Wilsons rivers. 3400 bass were released at sites around Lismore and Casino and another 8600 will be released sometime around November. The cost of this is $6000 with NSW Fisheries providing $3000 and the Richmond Valley Sportfishing Club the other $3000. To raise funds for this the club will be holding the Bass Classic fishing event from October 6-7. Prizes total over $4000 and with entry only $30 ($5 junior) we hope to raise about $1500 for restocking. Most of the prizes have been donated by local sponsors to enable all proceeds to go towards keeping up the local bass stocks. The Classic will be conducted near the Lismore Palms Caravan Park on Bangalow Road. Entry forms will be available from mid September and will go to clubs, tackle and boat shops.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
