Legacy bowls a real challenge

Lismore Legacy Club bowls organiser Michael McBride (left) and Lismore Workers Heights Bowling Club president John Kinsella are inviting people to compete in the Lismore Legacy Club Challenge Shield on September 4 and 5.

Michael McBride has been instrumental in transforming the former Vietnam Veterans Shield into the Lismore Legacy Club Challenge Shield Open 3 Bowl Classic Triples.

The previous competition looked likely to vanish when the principle organiser was posted overseas, until McBride rose to the challenge. The main changes McBride has engineered involve moving the the tournament from August to September 4-5, to run directly after Legacy Week, and by helping to raise $4000 in sponsorship. Consequently the triples teams that enter can look forward to significant prize money while playing classic three bowl triples instead of the new-fangled two bowl game.

Furthermore, thanks to McBrides work, the Lismore Workers Heights Bowlo is more than happy to donate its greens for the event.

By entering the comp not only can you win prizes and have a lovely day bowling, but youll also be helping more than 2000 war windows in the local area.

Entry is $90 per team with lunch and bowls provided. Entries close on August 28. For more info or to register phone George Newell on 6624 3040 or 6625 1928.
