Jazz moves Ford

Is Lismore becoming Australias city of jazz? Maybe so. The Cameron Ford Quartet will perform in that fair city this weekend.

This Sunday afternoon, August 20, the Lismore Jazz Club presents the Cameron Ford Quartet at the Lismore City Bowling Club (near the pool) from 2pm.

Cameron Ford and the lads take audiences on a Gypsy journey from Bach to Django Reinhardt and features Cameron Ford and Jrmie Nagabbo on guitars and vocals, Shenzo Gregorio on violin and guitar, and Peter Walters on the double bass.

This all adds up to some serious rhythm and swing.

Lismore Jazz Club stages live jazz on the third Sunday of the month featuring a variety of bands and jazz styles. They are also staging a couple of special events the George Washingmachine Quintet on Thursday, September 28, and the Bob Barnard Quintet on Saturday, November 25.

$8/5 gets you in.

Rosanna has designs on female taboo

Artist Rosanna Pimm uses 3500 porcelain tampons to created her large scale performance installation Riots of Passage in The Quad as part of The Lismore Women's Festival on International Women's Day. Laying down and de-constructing the mandala structure symbolises the impermanence of the menstrual cycle and an end to female inequality in the world.
