Local foodies taste of success

Locals already knew that the pizza at Fire in Belly is the best in the world and that Basilico can put on a rip-roaring party, but now its official.

Both local businesses were last week given major gongs at the NSW Restaurant & Catering Association 2006 Visa Awards for Excellence Basilico for Best Entertainment Restaurant and Fire in the Belly for Best Pizza Restaurant.

The two businesses have now qualified for the prestigious regional awards to be held in Sydney in late September.

Winning this award is just fantastic, said Basilicos owner/chef Peeter Pruul. You cant buy better publicity and of course awards of excellence are what you strive for.

Fire in the Bellys award comes hot on the heels of being named Best New Business 2006 at the Lismore Business Awards in May.

It started as a just a little idea really, said Fire in the Bellys Rodney Scott. We just thought Lismore needed a really great pizza restaurant and I love pizzas.
