Wetland effluent idea gets an airing

Clarence MP Steve Cansdell has organised a round table meeting next Tuesday, August 15, to discuss the idea of a constructed wetland to deal with Evans Head sewage woes.

The idea of the wetland has been put forward by the Evans Head and District Water Committee as an alternative to Richmond Valley Councils current proposal to discharge treated sewage effluent into the Evans River. Local environmentalist Dr Richard Gates said Council will hear from a specialist who has constructed wetlands in Casino and Byron Bay, along with a water expert from Southern Cross University.
