The Evans Head Fishing Classic is over for another

The Evans Head Fishing Classic is over for another 12 months and once again it aroused a good share of controversy. Most anglers enjoyed the week off socialising, fishing and trying to win some of the great prizes. The week must also be a great boost for the local business community.

There are some, however, who see it as over-the-top in the numbers of fish being caught and killed, despite some catch and release measures initiated this year.

The weather for the first six days was so good that boats were able to get outside both day and night, and with the snapper biting well, there were many fish caught. If the weather had been rough, the catch would have been just the opposite. This is a valuable aevent and that

needs to be balanced against the long term effect on the fishery.

Of interest to all our readers will be the change of address of our business. Suffolks has been at 79 Keen Street, Lismore, since 1935. It is one of the two longest serving businesses in the Lismore CBD. From next Monday, July 24, we will be at 155 Keen Street.
