Last shot winner

NRDWBA Singles Championship winner Maureen Smith of Ballina (right) and runner-up Elma Holmes of Casino.

Ballinas Maureen Smith won the Northern Rivers District Womens Bowls Association Singles title last Friday with the last shot of the game. The match, which was hosted at the Lismore Workers Heights Bowling Club, was played in steamy conditions with both players getting away to a good start, levelling the game at 7-all. Maureen then pulled away to 14-9 lead only to be reigned in by the eventual runner up, Casinos Elma Holmes, who took the lead 18-17. Maureen came back to level the score at 30-30 and then won the game with the final shot. Brilliant.
