Herbie rides again

If you love your beetle as much as Wollongbars Peter MacRae (pictured) you might want to polish it up and show it off in the Herbie Parade, which is held during the annual Health and Herb Festival in August.

A former Herbie Parade judge, Peter will be driving his Volkswagon convertible in this years parade, but says his love affair with Volkswagons began with the beetle.

Ive been driving Volkswagons since 1965, he said. Theyre a car with a lot of history and they are excellent in terms of reliability. Theyve also got a lot of charisma Id call them a 20th century icon.

The Herbie Parade commences at 12.30pm on Saturday, August 19, at the Harold Fredericks car park in Lismore and will wind its way through town to Riverside Park, where the festival will be in full swing. To register for the parade phone 6626 2006.
