Lantern Parade lights up Lismore

While theres no official head count as yet, creative director of the Lismore Lantern Parade Jyllie Jackson says around 25,000 people attended this years event a magical display of community spirit and energy with what many describe and finest show of fireworks to date.

Afterwards, thousands gathered in Magellan Street for the Great Street Party, with locals and visitors milling around talking, soaking up the live entertainment and enjoying a feeling of safety and community in the centre of town.

On Tuesday night, Lismore City Council acknowledged the value of the Lantern Parade, pitching in an extra $7000 in cash and $3000 of in-kind support (on top of the $20,000 they already give) for next years event.

The show ran seamlessly and there was a brilliant atmosphere, Jyllie said. Lismore was really buzzing on Saturday night, and as one councillor said, this has truly become Lismores signature event.

Jyllie is looking for photos of the Great Street Party to put on Triple Js website. If youve got any good shots, phone Jyllie on 6622 6333.
