Find out your rights at work

If youre worried about how the federal governments WorkChoices legislation could affect your working conditions, a visit from the Your Rights At Work bus can provide valuable assistance.

UnionsNSW secretary John Robertson and other unionists will hold a public discussion at the Lismore Workers Club next Wednesday, June 21, where they will happily provide advice and answer questions.

This is a law that most Australians do not want, said Mr Robertson, who believes that lay-offs, reduced pay rates and sliding safety standards are what Australians have to look forward under the new laws. Some employers have already used WorkChoices to treat their employees like dirt and the Howard Government thinks thats okay.

A stall will be set up all day Wednesday at Lismore Central Shopping Centre and the bus is rumoured to be stopping outside a prominent business to shame the operator, who has allegedly been mistreating workers.

The discussion will be held at the Workers Club from 7pm. For more info contact the Unionists Network on 0412 700 316.
