Max-imum preparation

A host of up and coming surfers gratefully accepted some guidance from Max Perrot in the lead up to the Icon Australia All Girls Surf Showdown. Pictured are (front l-r) Laura Adsett, Chey Steiner, Beth Perry, Max Perrot, Sam Cooper, Lexi Goffett, Kate Poulos and Claire Sewell with (rear l-r) Rachel Bonhote-Mead, Kellie OBrien and Mel Mott.

Last week Lennox Heads master surf coach, Max Perrot, handed out some handy hints to a bunch of keen young surfers in Ballina who will be competing in the Icon Australia All Girls Surf Showdown this June long weekend.

The coaching session focused on planning for a heat, how to study the surf prior to paddling out, which peak to sit on and how to judge lulls in the conditions, and the importance of using rips to save energy for getting out the back.

Entries for the All Girl Surf Showdown close next Wednesday, May 31.
