Horsing around at the Showgrounds

Last years winner of the pony section at the Horseland Northern NSW Hack Championships, Rothwell Performing Art, owned by Maryanne McMahon-Bullpitt of Lismore.

Some of the finest show horses in Australia will be put through their paces at Lismore Showground this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, May 26-28, during the 2006 Horseland Northern NSW Hack Championships.

This annual event is a national qualifier, and successful competitors earn right of entry into the Show Horse Council of Australasias Grand National Saddle Horse Championship Show, which is held in Sydney.

Its the most prestigious competition for show horses in NSW, said Maryanne McMahon-Bullpitt, whose pony Rothwell Performing Art won at last years show and was the only qualifier in the northern NSW area.

This year more than 240 of these beautifully groomed horses are entered into the competition, travelling from as far afield as Jindabyne in the south and Mackay in north Queensland to be part of the event. Entry is free, so bring along the kids and enjoy the show.
