Off their trees?

This week marks the loss of a lovely old hoop pine from behind Lismore Base Hospital ruthlessly cut down to make way for an unplanned development.

Lismore City Councils tree removal policy requires replacement by one tree or two shrubs. Trees are not being planted because selfish tree cutters are replacing old trees with shrubs.

Next time you notice the ugly gap behind the hospital left by the destruction of the huge hoop pine, think about how long a tree takes to grow. When you plant a small tree your grandchildren will live to appreciate its maturity, not you or I. Lets preserve Lismores trees.
