Sides trial newcomers

All four teams that contested the Far North Coast Hockey pre-season competition on Saturday used the opportunity to blood some younger players. The trials indicated that most of the local sides have good depth this year. Ballina look particularly buoyant with young Sam Davis even featuring on the score sheet as the seasiders got the better of Coraki 2-1. Ballina also tried out a new keeper, Josh Hanley, and his performance earned him a lot of respect from both teams. Coraki were also happy with the efforts of young Daniel Britt.

In the other fixture Northern Star Under 14 Mitchell Harley found the back of the net as the men in black and white finished off a guttered Alstonville 5-1 at Hepburn Park on Saturday afternoon. Stars young keeper Aaron Head also looked at home in the top flight and newcomer Josh Taylor nailed a goal for Star.
