Dealing with terror

This painting of The Echo office on deadline day was painted by Cornelius Delaney and is called Idiots. Um, Im not there...

The SCU Next Art Gallery (in Goodman Plaza at the Lismore campus) is presenting Bad Town an exhibition by Cornelius Delaney. He calls these works his negotiations with terror. We are surrounded by the wave of fear and paranoia that the war on terror has created.

These paintings are made in response to the incessant noise emitted by the contemporary mass culture machine, says the artist. ...the paintings parodically reflect and document the pall of fear, isolation and doubt that currently seems to hang over us. I like to think this is a process where cosmic terror is transformed into gay carnival monsters. Yep. Looks like it...

Bad Town will run until next Thursday, April 20.

The gallery is open from 10am-4pm, Monday-Thursday.
