As a mark of respect to the city it has called home for almost half a century, the Northern Rivers Aero Club has named its newest training aircraft City of Lismore.

The Victa T6 will be used to train fledging pilots and according to Aero Club president Gary Lewan, having training facilities in Lismore gives young people the chance to work towards their dream job without leaving home.

This new aircraft will allow young people to advanced training on their road to careers in the Defence Force, with Qantas or even the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter, Gary said. We want to provide real career opportunities for young aspiring aviators.
