Jake Jaquiss, a student at Southern Cross University, has a new series of artworks on show at the Goanna Caf in Lismore. The exhibition is called Five Bells.

Five Bells is a poem by Australian poet Kenneth Slessor. Its an elegy for his friend who fell off a Sydney ferry and drowned. The mood of memory and loss in the poem inspired Jake to create this body of work, which is a meditation on the fragility of life.

This poem reminds us that life is a strange, precious and precarious gift, Jake said.

Five Bells is on show until April 23.
