Bertha and Molly get seniors gong

Bundjalung Elder Bertha Kapeen (pictured) and Coraki resident Veronica (Molly) Campbell have both been honoured with Seniors Week Awards.

Bertha is chairperson of the Bundjalung Elders Council, a board member of the Shared Vision Aboriginal Corporation and a member of the Aboriginal Health Council for the North Coast.

She is also the author of the books Werlu Wana (Be Yourself), which documents her life story, and Henry the Mullet, which promotes the importance of following traditional culture to children.

Meanwhile, Molly has volunteered her skills for many community groups including Meals on Wheels, Coraki Youth Hall and Coraki Boy Scouts and Cubs. She has also done voluntary work for the Mid Richmond Retirement Village Auxiliary, St Josephs Catholic Church and the Coraki Junior Hockey Club.
