Barbers Cup

This weekend 20 local juniors will travel to Taree to compete against the juniors from the Manning region in the Barbers Cup.

The Barbers Cup is played twice a year on a home and away basis and gives juniors a chance to compete in a team atmosphere, which is something generally lacking in junior tennis. Last year in Lismore the Manning juniors were successful for the first time so our Lismore team will need to be at the top of their game to be successful this weekend.

Wednesday night mixed comp

Four new teams have raised the standard of the mixed comp with divisions one to three all playing at a very high standard. From the six teams entered from Lismore Tennis Centre my team (which I share with Graig Hosking and Ellie Wray in division one) and our second division team headed by Steve Clarke and including Peter McWilliam, Jill Wray, Lauren Edwards and Taylor Moore, are both undefeated. The other team undefeated in division one is the team of Jeff Hurst, Michael Oaten and Peter Sullivan, and their clash with my team this Wednesday night at Lismore Tennis Centre should provide some excellent tennis.
