Fathers ashes stolen in car theft

Kerryn Forrest with her necklace, containing the ashes of her late husband, thats identical to the one her daughter had stolen last week.

What should have been a happy homecoming for former Lismore girl Christine Forrest was ruined last Friday when a necklace containing the ashes of her late father was stolen from her car.

Christine had travelled down from Brisbane for her brothers engagement party, and was staying with her mum Kerryn in Ravenswood Drive, Goonellabah, when they realised around 3.30pm that her car had been broken into.

Approximately $3500 worth of personal items were stolen including jewellery, a camera, CDs, and a pair of shoes, plus a matching gold bracelet and necklace. When Kerryn and Christine realised the sentimental necklace (featuring a tiny golden bottle with her fathers ashes inside) had been stolen, they were both in shock.

Christine was shaking and physically sick we were just devastated, Kerryn said. I cant describe in words what that necklace means to Christine its just so special to her. We dont care who stole it and were not interested in pressing charges... were just pleading with whoever took it to bring it back.

Kerryn is hoping whoever stole the necklace can find it in their heart to put it back in her mailbox. Alternatively, anyone who has seen the necklace or has information should call Lismore Police on 6623 1599.
