Singing for East Timor

Singer and songwriter Mish will hit the stage at The Channon as part of a sparkling line-up of women artists to raise money for the long suffering East Timorese.

Its all happening for a good cause at The Channon Tea House this Sunday, March 12, from 4.30pm. The event is called Sing It Up Sista and therell be live and original music from some fine female performers from the area Terri, Jodie and Zoey, Mish, Melania Jack, Jarrah plus an art exhibition by local women artists.

Monies raised by these generous artists will go to the Alola Foundation in East Timor for its Maternal and Child Health Program, which is a project that provides information and village-based support groups for mothers and their children.

Did you know that in East Timor a woman is 100 times more likely to die during childbirth than in Australia? Or that one in 100 East Timorese children will not live to their first birthday?

You can help these people and enjoy the cultural delights on offer. Maybe take in (the) The Channon markets before the gig.
