Cops have a blast

Two Lismore Police Rescue Squad members have been trained to identify whether suspicious packages are bombs.

They will use a sophisticated portable x-ray machine to check suspicious items. If a package turns out to be a bomb, the officers will call in the rescue and bomb disposal unit from Sydney.

The officers will cover from Port Macquarie to the Queensland border, and out to Inverell.
