Be the belle of the ball

2005 debutantes Rachel Bennett (left) and Amy Power are encouraging other young women to make their debut at this years Blue and White Auxiliary Debutante Ball in Lismore.

The eighth annual Blue and White Auxiliary Debutante Ball is being held in Lismore on May 6, but with practice starting for young ladies in early March, organisers are looking for girls to register now.

The annual ball is a major fundraiser for the St Vincents Hospital Palliative Care Unit, and according to Blue and White Auxiliary president Joyce Cleaver, is one of the most significant events for any young woman.

The two most important events in a girls life are her wedding day and her debut you get to look beautiful and its often the first chance for a girl to use her training in the social graces, Joyce said. Its going to be the biggest gala event in Lismore and we are all very excited.

The Blue and White Debutante Ball will be held at the Lismore Workers Club on Saturday, May 6, at 7pm. Training for the ball begins on Sunday, March 12.
