A West Ballina woman has died after being hit by a semi-trailer on the Pacific Highway around 12.35am last Wednesday. Patsy Gordon, 38, was taken to Lismore Base Hospital with critical head, chest and leg injuries following the accident. She died a short time later. Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident and they believe she may have walked out in front of the truck. The driver immediately called police following the accident.

Lismore Police are seeking information from the public following the attempted abduction of a ten-year-old boy in Lismore on Sunday around 6pm. Police say the boy was riding his bike north along Bridge Street in North Lismore, some 60m ahead of his parents, when he was approached by a man and a woman in a white van who unsuccessfully tried to lure him inside the vehicle. The male is described as 35-40 years old, of solid build and clean shaven with blues eyes, short hair and fair skin with a light tan. He was wearing blue jeans and black runners and had a distinctive tattoo of a red dragon with blue smoke coming from its mouth on his upper right arm. The woman is described as 35-45 years old, of medium build with distinctive gold-coloured short curly hair and fair skin. She was wearing a black T-shirt and shorts. Police believe the last three digits of the vehicles black and white number plate were 102. Lismore crime prevention officer Michael Hogan say they are treating the incident as very serious. The police are sending a very strong warning to parents and guardians to maintain and reinforce stranger danger practices with their children, Mr Hogan said. A 43-year-old Lismore man has been charged with assaulting a 66-year-old woman in Norris Street, Lismore, around 7pm on Monday. It is alleged the woman was walking her dog when she heard loud yelling and screaming coming from a nearby house. When the woman went to see if she could render assistance she was attacked.

A 1989 Holden Commodore was stolen from Rifle Range Road, Wollongbar, around 11.55pm on Sunday night. Witnesses saw a second vehicle at the location. Any information to Ballina Police on 6681 8699.

A golf buggy valued at $1250 was stolen from Jameson Avenue, East Ballina, between 4.30pm last Wednesday and 7am on Sunday.

Police are seeking information about any suspicious behaviour in High Street, Casino, around 7.30pm on Monday following a small house fire. The 26-year-old resident was in the garden when he heard the fire alarm, and he was able to extinguish the blaze, which damaged one bedroom. Any information to Casino Police on 6662 0099.

Jewellery, diving watches, a DVD player and CDs were stolen from a premises in Keen Street, Lismore, between 2.45pm and 4.15pm on Monday. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.

A digital camera was stolen from a 1985 Toyota parked in Park Lane, Lennox Head, around 10pm on Tuesday. Police warn motorists not to leave valuables in their cars.

Police have noticed an increase in the theft of bicycles since Christmas. The latest incidents include the theft of a $570 bike from Grays Falls in Casino between 5pm and 5.30pm Monday and a $200 bicycle from outside Lismore Base Hospital between 3pm and 9pm Tuesday. Owners of bicyclers are encouraged to ensure they record their serial numbers and/or have their bikes engraved to assist with recovery.
