Power interruption at Evans and Coraki

Power interruption at Evans and Coraki

If you live in or around Evans Head, Woodburn or Coraki you might have to plan an early night next Monday, February 20, unless youve got plenty of candles.

Weather permitting, Country Energy will be turning off electricity in those areas from 11pm next Monday night until 5.30am Tuesday morning so major repairs can be completed on the 66,000 volt line between Woodburn and Lismore.

The work, which will include the replacement of poles, crossarms and insulators, is part of a major upgrade of this important line, said Country Energys regional general manager, Brian Glawson. We have been liaising with local businesses and alternate power supplies have been organised for the main retail strip in Woodburn and Oak Street in Evans Head. Country Energy apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks customers for their cooperation.

Swim-in to save lake pool

The newly formed Save the Lismore Lake Swimming Pool group will be holding a swim-in next Saturday, February 25, at the pool in a bid to secure the long-term future of the facility.

Lismore Council is meeting to discuss the pool at a workshop on March 7. The group is worried that given the estimated $500,000 worth of repairs and upgrades that needs to be done, Council may consider shutting the pool.

The group has already started a petition and is now trying to rally support for the swim-in.

The event begins at 3pm. For more information phone Vicki Findlay on 6622 0712.
