Whether its Shakespeare, Indigenous dance theatre, film screenings or comedy shows, the 2006 Northern Rivers Performing Arts (NORPA) season promises something for all artistic tastes both young and old.

NORPA will hold its 2006 season program launch next Thursday, February 23, at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore, where artistic director Lyndon Terracini will introduce this years shows.

The event is free and all members of the community are invited to attend.

The launch gives everyone the opportunity to see whats available at NORPA during the year, as well as meet the artists and find out about our workshops and training sessions, said NORPAs Liz Terracini. Each year we try and bring the best local, national and international performing artists to the region. Normally this calibre of art is only seen in capital cities, but we know there is a vibrant artistic community in the country and a huge interest particularly in this region for quality, original, contemporary performing arts. 2006 is definitely NORPAs most ambitious year yet.

People attending the launch will be treated to complimentary refreshments and entertainment from various local performers including comedy duo The Frocks.

For catering purposes those who plan to attend should phone NORPA on 6622 0300.
