An 11-year-old boy who went missing during a school excursion to Mt Warning on Tuesday has been found safe and well. The group of around 20 students and six teachers from a Gold Coast school were about halfway down the mountain when teachers realised the boy was missing. Police, the SES and National Parks and Wildlife officers embarked on a wide-scale search to find the boy, who was located around 1km from where he went missing at 11am Wednesday morning. The boy was distressed but not injured following the ordeal. The Life Saver Rescue Helicopter winched the boy out just after midday and he was taken to Tweed Hospital for assessment.
Lismore Police are seeking witnesses following the alleged assault and robbery of a 41-year-old man in Union Street, Lismore, between 2am and 6am on Sunday. The victim was found at the intersection of Uralba and Diadem streets, Lismore, in a serious condition with facial injuries. Articles of the victims clothing were found in Ballina Street. Police are seeking help from the public following an aggravated break and enter in Centre Street, Casino, around 2am on Monday. The offender fled the scene without taking any property after being disturbed by a woman who lived in the house. The man is described as approximately 160cm tall and of medium build with short dark hair. He was wearing a sky blue and grey hooded jacket. Any information to Casino Police on 6662 0099.
An overhead projector and TV were destroyed at Lismore TAFE after vandals ransacked the building sometime between last Friday night and early Monday morning. The offenders gained entry by smashing the front window. Nothing was taken from the building. Any information to Lismore Police on 6623 1599.
