4 Generations of War Service return to birthplace

MY name is Tod Sheaves. I left the Navy in 2006, as a Lieutenant, after serving in East Timor, Bougainville and on Border Protection Operations. I served for 15 years in the ADF. I am now a Chief Officer in the merchant navy working in the offshore sector.

I have a rich military history and am a 4th generation returned from active service:

• My father served in the Army in the Vietnam Conflict
• My maternal grandfather father served in the Dutch merchant navy in WW2 in the Pacific, Atlantic, Java Sea and Mediterranean.
• My paternal grandfather served in the Australian Army in Papua New Guinea in WW2.
• My Great Grandfather landed, and was wounded, in Gallipoli in WW1.

I have been living in Coffs for a little over a year and am a member of Sawtell RSL Sub Branch. I was lucky enough to be drawn in the ballot to go to the ANZAC ceremony at Gallipoli this year. It will be a once in a lifetime experience that will be with me forever.
