Wright a dark horse for title
Casinos Steve Wright is considered by many as the dark horse for the Australian V8 Dirt Modified Title, which is being contested this Saturday and Sunday, January 27-28, at Lismore Speedway. Wright picked up the tag after he recently finished third overall in the Mr Modified series and took out the third and final round at Lismore Speedway.
Im feeling really good going into the Australian Title the best I have ever been in terms of form, Wright declared. Our speed is there and I feel that we can be somewhere within the top five, or if were really lucky, on the podium.
Recent Australian Titles (Avalon Raceway and Brisbane International Speedway) havent been the luckiest for Wright. He has shown plenty of speed only to suffer misfortune that ruined promising performances.
I count myself very unlucky at the past two Australian Titles, but with this years event at Lismore, Im going to be going all out to post a good result and ease those bad memories, Wright said. This will be the first time Ive contested an Australian Title at my home track and its something thats really special to me, as you always want to do well in front of your home crowd, whether its a club show or a Title event. You have to finish all your heat races in the highest possible positions in order to get a good starting spot for the final, which is going to be very important, especially at a track such as Lismore.
Wright would like to say a special thank you to his crew for their endless efforts, along with his sponsor, Betta Electrical Ballina, for coming out and cheering him on during the final Mr Modified series round at Lismore.
