Coral and coal

Shes from the steel city of Newcastle (well, it used to be the steel city before economic rationalism moved the steel industry elsewhere) and shes heading to Nimbin. Shes singer/songrwriter Coral.

Springing from the dockyards like a lone flower sprouting from a concrete pavement, Coral blends Celtic stylings with American and African finger-style guitar. Sound interesting? Well, add blues, pop, rock and a generous dollop of jazz and youve got the pot-pourri of sound that encapsulates her original songs.

After studying piano and then guitar in Sydney she moved to Newcastle in 2001 where her musical skills have been honed and sharpened, resulting in her just-released debut EP House On The Hill.

Coral will turn on the Rainbow Caf in Nimbin on Friday, January 20, where she will be joined on stage by Heath Wild on bass and Chaz Webb on the kit.
