MORE than 250 marijuana seedlings and shotgun and rifle cartridges were seized by police yesterday during the raid of a Hidden Valley property.
No-one was home when detectives from the Yeppoon Criminal Investigation Branch, accompanied by police dogs and members from the Rockhampton Tactical Crime Squad, swooped on a 60-hectare property at Darambal Rd in the early hours of the morning.
Police said 257 marijuana seedlings, about 30cm in height, were found.
Also seized were numerous shotgun and rifle cartridges, some of which were quite old, they said.
Yeppoon CIB plain clothesman Detective Senior Constable Alex Nezic said the seedlings were hidden in bushland and police got to the small crop at an early stage, before it could be planted.
Sen Const Nezic said the property owner was known to police.
He said police acted on information received from the public and encouraged all residents to report neighbours acting suspiciously in their homes, or strange smells coming from properties.
The property owner had not been questioned as of yesterday afternoon.
